Troy, a squad from the neighboring Freeway League, did the deed, scoring all of its points in the second half to delivered a 24-14 victory on Friday, Sept. 19.The loss dropped Cypress to 3-1 overall.Quarterback Nick Buras found Andrew Moreno with a touchdown pass to dent the board, giving the Centurions a 7-0 lead. Logan Burt then used his legs to pound in a rushing touchdown, giving the Centurions a 14-0 advantage at the halftime break.However, the opposition came roaring back.Troy’s defense stiffened in the second half, allowing no more points while causing multiple turnovers. Its offense, on the other hand, scored three touchdowns and a field goal to earn the win, roaring back in the second half.Cypress opens its Empire League campaign against rival Kennedy High on Oct. 4 at Handel Stadium in Anaheim, starting at 7 p.m.
